Apple expected to unveil HomeView smart home display alongside updated hardware

Apple plans to announce a touch screen smart home hub called HomeView alongside an updated Apple TV 4K and HomePod mini 2 at an event in New York. MacRumors, TechCrunch, and Engadget reported that details about the hardware lineup leaked ahead of the press gathering. Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman first disclosed the specifications and product naming. [1][2][3]

The HomeView smart display will feature an A18 processor and act as a control center for smart home equipment using Siri voice commands. TechCrunch, Digital Trends, and 9to5Mac all reported that the device will offer a touch screen display and arrive in mid November. Digital Trends noted that Apple will sell both countertop and wall mounted versions of the hub, while 9to5Mac reported it will come in four colors. [2][5][7]

Apple is also planning updates to its audio and streaming products. Digital Trends reported that the HomePod mini 2 will feature upgraded processing and connectivity to replace the S5 chip used in the original version. The smart home updates precede additional hardware announcements planned for later in the month. Digital Trends reported that Apple plans to introduce touchscreen MacBook Pro models and an updated iPad Mini around October 27. [6]
