YouTube introduces Custom Feeds driven by user prompts

YouTube is rolling out Custom Feeds and testing an updated mobile layout to give viewers direct control over Home screen recommendations.

YouTube is rolling out a feature called Custom Feeds that permits users to build custom Home recommendation streams using text prompts, WeRSM reported. The update allows viewers to specify exact content preferences rather than relying entirely on automated algorithmic curation. [1]

According to WeRSM, eligible users can select a plus icon and enter descriptive prompts such as long documentaries or specific niche analysis. YouTube then generates a dedicated recommendation feed based on the phrase and continually updates the stream as creators post new videos. [1]

The new Custom Feeds feature replaces the existing topic chips at the top of the Home interface for eligible accounts, WeRSM reported. Simultaneously, YouTube is testing a redesigned mobile Home screen layout that positions the Subscriptions tab closer to the main central feed. [1]
