Apple blocks CarPlay video playback in iOS 27 updates

Apple has removed native video playback support from CarPlay in its iOS 27.2 and iOS 27.3 software updates. BigGo Finance reported that the updates block video streaming applications, including YouTube, even when the vehicle is parked. Users who updated to these versions cannot play video content on their vehicle dashboard screens. [1]

The operational change reverses a capability introduced earlier in the iOS 27 release cycle. Engadget reported that iOS 27 originally allowed users to watch videos on CarPlay when parked, provided the vehicle supported native video app integration. BigGo Finance noted that native video support required cars to feature video-in-car technology capable of detecting when the vehicle was stationary. [1][2]

Creators and users who wish to maintain video playback functionality must keep their devices on iOS 27.0.1 or earlier versions.
