Apple has hired former Meta executive Scott Tucker to head its corporate litigation team, MacRumors and 9to5Mac reported, citing Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman. Tucker takes on the newly created role of vice president of global litigation and financial services at the technology company. MacRumors and 9to5Mac both noted that the appointment brings a prominent corporate lawyer to manage Apple's worldwide legal actions. [1][2][4][5][6]

In his new role, Tucker will oversee commercial lawsuits, patent disputes, and legal issues related to financial products, MacRumors reported. 9to5Mac reported that Tucker spent almost six years at Meta as vice president and deputy general counsel for global litigation. MacRumors added that Tucker previously led litigation at Meta and held a senior legal position at investment bank Morgan Stanley. [1][2]

The hiring follows another recent legal appointment from the same firm. 9to5Mac reported that former Meta chief legal officer Jennifer Newstead joined Apple earlier this year as general counsel, replacing long-time executive Kate Adams. Newstead later took responsibility for government affairs after the retirement of former Apple executive Lisa Jackson. [2]

Apple is an American technology firm based in Cupertino, California, that engages in legal proceedings in its normal course of business. The company actively enforces its intellectual property interests and has participated in civil actions as both plaintiff and defendant since the 1980s. [7][8]
