Microsoft Chief Executive Officer Satya Nadella stated that companies should assume artificial intelligence models are compromised and build strong system protections to contain them. Reports by The Verge, Business Insider, and TechCrunch confirmed that Nadella published his comments in a lengthy post on X on Saturday. NDTV Profit also reported that Nadella called for greater accountability and timely disclosure of system failures. [1][2][3][4]

Nadella argued that businesses must surround unpredictable models with strong system design, human controls, and standard operating procedures. The Verge and TechCrunch reported that Nadella called for an emergency brake on artificial intelligence systems and insisted that models should not be treated as nested black boxes. TechCrunch added that his proposed safety approach involves separating the core model from the harness that orchestrates its work. [1][2][3]

According to The Verge, Nadella recommended building transparent systems where models can be contained, observed, and left with tamper proof human readable evidence. Business Insider noted that Nadella urged companies to establish new industry standards where current frameworks are insufficient to manage unmonitored artificial intelligence behavior. [1][2]

Nadella became the chief executive officer of Microsoft in 2014, succeeding Steve Ballmer, before taking on the role of chairman in 2021. He previously served as executive vice president of the cloud and enterprise group at Microsoft, where he managed the computing platforms for the company. [6]
