Chinese artificial intelligence company Moonshot AI introduced Kim K3.1 Pro on October 24, 2026, as an upgraded post-trained flagship model. SiliconANGLE and The Economic Times both report that the large language model can outperform competing systems including Claude Opus 5.5 and GPT-6 Astra on select tasks. The Cryptonomist and 디지털투데이 both report that the model achieved a score of 64.4 on specialized financial analysis benchmarks, while also highlighting its capabilities in 3D modeling. [1][3][4][5]
The new release builds upon the architecture of Moonshot AI's Kimi K3 model released in July, according to SiliconANGLE. SiliconANGLE reports that the underlying model comprises 896 individual neural networks totaling three trillion parameters. To limit operational inference costs, the system activates only 16 of these neural networks at any given time. [1]
Moonshot AI was founded in Beijing in March 2023 by Yang Zhilin, Zhou Xinyu, and Wu Yuxin. The company achieved a valuation of 35 billion dollars by July 2026, backed by major investors including Alibaba Group and Tencent. Its earlier Kimi K3 release was recorded as the largest open weights model at 2.8 trillion parameters. [7]
The Economic Times reports that Moonshot AI plans to execute a full release of the model weights for Kim K3.1 Pro by November 2026. [4]
