Verizon has confirmed it will charge $10 per month for Apple's new iPhone Handoff feature, according to Engadget, 9to5Mac, and MacRumors. Digital Trends reported that the pricing is double the $5 monthly fee charged by T-Mobile, while the United Kingdom carrier EE can include the service for free. Engadget noted that the feature is also offered by Deutsche Telekom in Germany. [1][3][5][6]
Apple introduced iPhone Handoff at its Worldwide Developers Conference in June 2026 as a key feature of iOS 27, Digital Trends reported. The functionality allows users who carry two iPhones to assign a single phone number across both devices. Instead of requiring users to move an eSIM manually between handsets, Handoff links a companion eSIM on a secondary device to the primary phone number. [1][3][6][10]
The operational availability of Handoff relies directly on cellular carrier support for shared eSIM configurations, Digital Trends reported. Subscribers must ensure both devices run iOS 27 and share the same Apple ID, Engadget added. Verizon stated that the feature is coming soon to its network alongside its announcement of the iPhone Duo. [1][3]
Apple released iOS 27 to the public on September 14, 2026. The operating system update was officially announced on June 8, 2026, alongside iPadOS 27, macOS Golden Gate, watchOS 27, visionOS 27, and tvOS 27. [10]
In short
- Verizon will charge $10 per month for Apple's iPhone Handoff feature.
- T-Mobile charges $5 per month for the same iPhone Handoff service.
- iPhone Handoff allows two iPhones sharing an Apple ID and iOS 27 to use one phone number via a companion eSIM.
