Meta has launched a test of a new feature called Gems on its Threads platform, according to reports from Social Media Today and Android Central. The in-app rewards system uses bright, shimmering badges to automatically select original posts and replies that bring value and spur conversation. [1][2][3][4][5][6]
Social Media Today reported that the system is designed to identify content that sparks discussion across the platform. Reports from Android Headlines, IntraMind LLC, Social Samosa, and Analytics Insight also confirmed that the feature focuses on highlighting posts that drive ongoing, meaningful conversations among users. Android Central noted that Threads previously introduced an update called Dear Algo earlier in the year. That system allowed users to control what they saw in their feeds for up to three days by sending a request, which could also be shared with other users on the platform. [2]
