Fans, original voice actors, developers, and policymakers organized a protest effort on November 7, known as N7 Day, to petition Electronic Arts regarding the future of the Mass Effect franchise. Kotaku and Destructoid reported that the Save Mass Effect movement released a collaborative campaign video featuring voice cast members from the original trilogy. The public action follows EA shutting down BioWare and canceling the next planned installment in the series. [1][2][3][6]

According to Rock Paper Shotgun, an internal trailer for Mass Effect 5, which was titled Mass Effect Universe, leaked online following the studio closure. Original trilogy composer Sam Hulick subsequently released a re-scored version of the leaked trailer. Meanwhile, Destructoid and Polygon reported that original voice performers, including Jennifer Hale and Mark Meer, joined the campaign while expressing hope for the property's eventual continuation. [2][3][6]

Modders are also attempting to preserve features from earlier releases in the series. Rock Paper Shotgun reported that independent developers released a new mod for Mass Effect Legendary Edition that reinstates the original co-op multiplayer mode from Mass Effect 3. [4]

BioWare originally established November 7th as N7 Day 14 years ago to mark the fifth anniversary of the first Mass Effect title, Kotaku reported. Mass Effect is a military science fiction media franchise created by Casey Hudson that depicts a future where humanity and alien civilizations colonize the galaxy using precursor technology. [1][10]
