Instagram is exploring options to help long-form content creators earn money on its platform, according to statements by Instagram head Adam Mosseri reported by News9live and Storyboard18. The monetization discussions follow the platform's recent rollout of long-form video tools designed to support longer content formats. [2][3]
The monetization push coincides with Instagram testing horizontal widescreen video uploads lasting up to 90 minutes with select creators in the United States, NewsCord reported. As FTMQ Creators reported earlier, Instagram launched the feature, called Features, alongside product vice president Tessa Lyons to compete directly with YouTube for creator watch time, though the test initially launched without ad revenue sharing. [4][7]
In an interview on the Colin and Samir podcast, Mosseri addressed public pushback regarding artificial intelligence tools on social media, according to The Verge. Mosseri noted that anxiety, frustration, and anger surrounding AI in creative industries is getting worse and will continue to grow among creators and users alike. [1]
Mosseri joined Facebook in 2008 as a product designer and advanced to head of Instagram following the resignations of co-founders Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger. Under his leadership, the Meta-owned platform previously introduced short-form Reels to rival TikTok and launched the text-based app Threads. [5][6]
