YouTube earned 11.2 billion dollars in advertising revenue during the third quarter of 2026, Tubefilter reported. This represents a 9% rise compared to the same period in the previous year. Tubefilter also noted that living room television viewership now accounts for one-third of the platform's total advertising revenue. [1]

The platform has reached a record-high number of YouTube Premium and YouTube Music subscribers, according to Tubefilter. Despite these gains, parent company Alphabet faced broader financial challenges during the quarter. Alphabet registered total revenue of 127.6 billion dollars, falling short of analyst expectations of 128.2 billion dollars. [1]

Alphabet recorded a negative cash flow of 9.07 billion dollars for the second consecutive quarter due to substantial spending on artificial intelligence, Tubefilter reported. Company stock declined by 10% following the earnings release, as overall financial performance missed both revenue and profit targets set by analysts. [1]

Google acquired YouTube in November 2006 for 1.65 billion dollars in stock. By early 2026, the video platform had expanded to approximately 2.7 billion monthly active users. Pew Research Center data from 2025 indicates that 84% of adults in the United States use YouTube, making it the most widely utilized social media platform in the country. [3]
