YouTube has emerged as the premier storytelling platform for Generation Z and Generation Alpha, Tubefilter and The Wrap both reported. The finding comes from the fifth annual Teens and Screens study released by the Center for Scholars and Storytellers at UCLA. Tubefilter noted that the results coincide with traditional Hollywood media companies expanding their reliance on creative talent developed on YouTube. [1][2]
The Wrap reported that the UCLA study surveyed more than 1,500 adolescents between the ages of 10 and 24 years old. The research evaluated youth perceptions and beliefs across multiple entertainment sectors, including video games, television, movies, social media, and artificial intelligence. The research also revealed that opinions regarding artificial intelligence become increasingly negative as children and teenagers grow older. [2]
Generation Alpha follows Generation Z and represents the first demographic cohort born entirely within the 21st century, with birth years spanning from the early 2010s to the mid 2020s. YouTube serves as the world's second-most visited website, attracting approximately 2.7 billion monthly active users who upload over 500 hours of video content every minute. [4][6]
