YouTube is testing a lower AdSense payout threshold for selected creators in the United States, India, and Indonesia. According to reports from WeRSM and MM News, the platform is reducing the minimum earnings required for a payout from $100 to $20. [1][2]
WeRSM reported that the trial applies to payments beginning in October 2026. Participation in the test is restricted to a randomly selected group of YouTube Partner Program members. Eligible creators can now request a payout once they reach the $20 limit, and participants retain the option to adjust the threshold manually through their AdSense accounts. [1]
The operational impact of the change varies across target regions. WeRSM noted that while a reduction from $100 to $20 represents a modest adjustment for creators based in the United States, it allows creators in India and Indonesia to access their earned revenues significantly faster due to the relative strength of the US dollar against local currencies.
