Instagram tests long horizontal videos without sharing advertising revenue

Instagram has started testing long-form horizontal videos up to 90 minutes long in the United States without offering a general ad-revenue split for creators.

Instagram began a limited United States test of a feature called Features on October 26, 2026, which permits select creators to publish horizontal videos up to 90 minutes long. Quasa.io, Mashable, Puck, Memeburn, and NeoTeo all reported on the rollout. The new option allows long video uploads aimed at complete projects like shows and podcasts. As FTMQ Creators reported earlier, the platform is testing horizontal widescreen formats to compete directly with YouTube for viewer watch time. [1][2][3][5][6][10]

The platform does not provide a general ad-revenue share for the Features format. Quasa.io and Memeburn reported that there is no general ad-revenue share for creators using the tool. A Meta spokesperson told TechCrunch that it is too early to share a long-term monetization model, according to Quasa.io. [1][5]

To support long-form content, Instagram has tested several related features. Quasa.io reported that an earlier test took place in Brazil, alongside a Clips as Reels test that allows users to link up to eight excerpts directly to a full video. Quasa.io added that Instagram has tested a Series option for episodic Reels and provided direct funding for select long-form creators. [1]

Instagram is an American photo and short-form video sharing service owned by Meta Platforms. Access to the Features test remains restricted to selected participating accounts while Meta evaluates long-term monetization options. [1][8]
