Pinterest published its third quarter earnings report on October 29, 2026, showing significant platform expansion. Social Media Today reported that the company added 21 million global monthly active users compared to the second quarter. The total audience for the platform reached 661 million monthly active users during the period. [1]

The increase in users was largely driven by international expansion. Social Media Today reported that 17 million of the new users came from regions outside the platform core markets. User growth in Europe also began trending upward again after experiencing stagnation and declines over the previous year. [1]

The growth in European users remains critical for short term performance because the region generates significant platform revenue. Ben Silbermann and Paul Sciarra originally conceptualized the service in late 2009 after their previous shopping application, Tote, struggled with low engagement. They partnered with Evan Sharp to launch a visual organization platform, which went into a closed beta prototype in March 2010. [1][3]
